AN Essex zoo has confirmed the missing Turkey Vulture, Harold, has been found after an urgent appeal.

Earlier today, staff at the Call of the Wild Zoo, near South Woodham Ferrers, issued an appeal for people to keep their eyes open for a missing vulture named Harold.

Harold went missing yesterday after riding up on a thermal wind during an aerial display at the zoo, soaring out of sight before he could be coaxed back down.

While the zoo was attempting to track Harold, people were advised to contact the zoo if they spot the large, black, and distinctly bald vulture. They were also told not to approach the bird, though he is harmless.

This evening, Call of the Wild Zoo, has now confirmed Harold has been found.

They said: “We are pleased to confirm Harold, our Turkey Vulture, has been found and is back safe and sound at the zoo.

“As some of you may have heard, Harold went missing yesterday after being caught by a gust of wind during a display.

“He was found in the area and has now safely returned. We just want to say a massive thank you to the media and everyone who was involved in helping us find Harold.

“The staff here at the zoo are so relived he is back home.”
