THE south Essex community has been left shocked and saddened as a man has died after suffering from “traumatic injuries” while at a warehouse in Shoebury.

Yesterday, emergency services rushed to EGL Homecare, in Campfield Road, after a man “working at height” fell.

According to unconfirmed reports, the man who tragically passed away is George Gilbey, 40-year-old reality TV star from St Osyth, Essex, who appeared in Gogglebox and Celebrity Big Brother.

Despite the best efforts of medical crews, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the ambulance service confirmed.

Essex Police says it is liaising with the Health and Safety Executive following the incident and is carrying out an investigation.

EGL Homecare, which manufactures cleaning products, has confirmed the incident took place at its warehouse, however the man involved was working for a separate company.

The death has left the south Essex community shocked and saddened, with many already paying tribute and sending condolences to the man’s family.

James Moyies, councillor for Shoebury, said: “My condolences go to his family and friends. It will be a huge shock for them.

“I’m sure a full investigation will be carried out. There isn’t much more I can say before that is completed, but it is obviously a tragedy.”

Natasha Ellen wrote: “This is awful. RIP. Thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Kelly Langton added: “Absolutely heartbreaking to hear. My sincere condolences to this poor man’s family and friends. Life is so cruelly snatched in a blink.”

Tiffany Bott said: “That is absolutely devastating. Rest in Peace.”

Lorraine Baker wrote: “How awful for the family who never thought such a terrible event would unfold when he left home this morning. Very sad.”

The air ambulance landed in the grounds of Hinguar Primary School, just yards from the warehouse.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We received a report of an incident in which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury.

“The ambulance service including air ambulance were in attendance. Sadly, the man died at the scene. We will continue liaising with partners including the Health and Safety Executive.”
