Hullbridge High Elms Park development 'eco-friendly' vision

Barratt and David Wilson Homes is building 500 homes at its High Elms Park development off Lower Road, in Hullbridge and has committed to doing all it can to make the development “nature friendly”. 

As work takes place, the developer has revealed a host of measures being put in place to protect the wildlife, including 30 bat boxes and 52 “swift bricks” which allow birds to nest in them. 

The development also features a network of ‘hedgehog highways’, spanning more than 1,400 metres around the site, to support the hibernation and reproduction of animals.

To conserve existing plant life, 420 trees are being planted during construction.

The seven-acres of open green space surrounding the High Elms Park homes is set to be particularly beneficial, safeguarding existing plants and trees.

The initiative concludes with the planting of six wildflower meadows, intended to back native pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and moths.

Plans were approved for the development in 2020 and consists of a range of two to five-bedroom homes suited to a broad spectrum of potential residents.
