Emergency services have shut off part of an Essex city centre road and an air ambulance landed after reports of a crash.

UPDATE: Police say a man in his 80s has suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash involving two motorbikes.

Queen Street in Colchester has been closed with emergency services including police and ambulances on the scene this afternoon.

First Essex reported this was due to a crash, with air ambulance crews on the scene at around 3pm according to the bus firm.

The bus firm has added the road is likely to be shut until the "end of the day", with services using East Hill diverting via Brook Street, and those using North Hill into Queen Street diverting via Balkerne Hill and Southway.

The 2.05pm departure from Colchester was stuck in this incident and was unable to run.

Essex Police and East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
